Exciting news....

Just read some fab news from Bree over at Paddington Perspective....Zara Home is coming to Australia. WOO HOO!

Now I don't have to ask friends to get me things when overseas, just have to ask my friends in Sydney :) You know who you are, don't worry it's only down the street from the office!!

Thanks for being in the know Bree and sharing the news.

Bedroom 2 / Home Office

Happy day today! I started on the design of my second bedroom/office. I refuse to let this room become a junk room and if I left it any longer, it would be!
This space will be for me to use as a little home office for my work (my day job that is!), my blogging, some design work and best of all a space my niece and nephew can come and have sleep overs in.

I got my new desk last weekend, it's a really simple in shape and style which is exactly what I wanted. And it was cheap - $149, that makes me happy :)

The view from the window above the desk is actually quite nice as it looks down over the complex, over the trees, you can see lots of beautiful sky and even a glimpse of the Q1! However I want a distraction from the ugly security screen (which I've decided not to change) so I am planning to put up white plantation shutters.

Now I can go buy all the pieces for the desktop as it definitely needs it! It's the best part though.

It's a work in progress and I look forward to doing more on it soon and posting the finished photo's sometime in the near future.

Bon Voyage

June sees two more of my gorgeous friends head off overseas. Jealous? VERY!

Sammy, I hope you have an amazing time in Japan. I know you will love it and ignite your creative energy. Take LOTS of photo's and enjoy putting all your Japanese language skills to the test. Enjoy the food and the people, they make this place a great place to visit.

This photo was taken in the heart of Tokyo. Amongst all the monster buildings and concrete you come across this. Just beautiful.

Nick, *sigh* you are now off to Paris too. You will have an unbelievable time and have an experience that only a very few of us have had the opportunity to experience. Enjoy taking it all in.

When I was in Paris, I didn't know how to get to the Eiffel Tower. I could see it amongst the buildings so I just walked in that direction. Up the Champs Elysees, along Avenue Montaigne and down many gorgeous little side streets, I finally (somehow) found my way to it and this is what I saw amongst the trees as I walked up the street. What an amazing sight.

All my friends continue to inspire me, I think it's time I plan an overseas trip soon.

Travel safe and make sure you come back!!!

Lots of love xx

LV Bond Street Maison

Today, last night - whatever time around the world you are in, Louis Vuitton opened it's amazing new Bond Street Maison. The store, which officially opens to the public on Friday is the second largest store worldwide with a total of 17,000 square feet of retail space, the second after the Champs Elysees Maison. The store was designed by New York architect Peter Marino who has also done the store designs for Chanel, Dior, Fendi, Armani just to name a few. I can't wait to see images of the store as they become available.

The red carpet event was full of A listers and was hosted by the ever stylish Alexa Chung. Here's some of my fav Louis looks from the red carpet.

Hostess Alexa Chung taking on a more demure look

Kirsten Dunst looking so pretty in front of the great window display

Not a huge fan of her dress but am super excited they got Gwyneth Paltrow for the opening (who needs Madonna!)

Elle MacPherson - beautiful

Cosmic Blossom girl Daisy Lowe

Thandie Newton looked beautiful in Louis Vuitton, check out the back of the dress AH-mazing!

Mr Marc Jacobs made it to the opening seen here with the architect of the store Peter Marino (yes, I'm serious!)

The best news about this opening is that the Store Director of the Maison had his humble Louis beginnings right here in Surfers Paradise!
All the best Thierry and congrats on a fantastic store.

Eco Chic

I'm loving this online store at the moment, Eco Chic. The furniture is fab but even better yet, all products are eco and environmentally friendly. I think the days have passed when we think of this type of living is for the hippies right! This store has a unique collection of eclectic and contemporary furniture, vintage products, hemp products and homewares.

Capital Kitchen

I'm very jealous of my friends in Melbourne, particularly those who work in Chadstone Shopping Centre! They can eat everyday at a great place called Capital Kitchen. On my last trip to Melbourne we had lunch there and....*sigh*!! Not only was the food great, I loved the gorgeous interior, so spacious with high ceilings. Perhaps I liked it so much because all the chairs were different style but....grey!!! (except the white Tholix chairs)

It's also a great use of contrasting materials of wood, brick and marble

You can also buy beautiful homewares

By the way, today was a much better day, full of lots of laughter x

Today, go away!

Ok, so I'm all for the positive. I try to do my best to find the good in all situations, people, places - everything. This is the choice we have in life.

But I'm human and today - my day really sucked! So before I try to go off to dreamyland I had to find a message that will help make me feel better. What better than this one from the ever amazing, graceful and elegant Audrey Hepburn :

Tomorrow, please be kind and bring me a good day......

Coffee table thoughts

I've mentioned before that I want an ottoman as my coffee table. I thought I'd put a collection of rooms with ottomans as coffee tables to see if I'm still feeling it.

I currently have 2 Ikea Lack side tables as my coffee table, I only bought these ($20 each!) as a temporary fit until I found out exactly what it was I decide to put there.

Ottomans as coffee tables can add a softer feel to the space and I can put my feet up which I love to do. Plus it can act as extra seating if need be. It is also a great way to add some colour and texture to a space.

Colour Theory : Black & White

White projects purity, cleanliness and neautrality
Black is authoritative and powerful

To me it is such a classic combination, chic and elegant. Far from boring in both fashion and interiors and you really can put a myriad of colours with it. My favourite colour with black and white is kelly green.
