My Favourite Movies - The Notebook

While snuggled up in my bed today feeling sickly, I watched one of my favourite movies The Notebook. Oh I so love this movie, you can't help but fall in love with both Noah and Allie and watching Noah and Allie fall in love with each other.

Such a gorgeous story that starts with an old man reading to an old lady in a nursing home. The story he reads is about two young lovers, Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun. After spending the summer together they're seperated by Allie's wealthy parents who feel Noah isn't suitable for her. After several years apart, Allie becomes engaged to a soldier, Lon. She then comes across and article on Noah (see below) and goes to visit him. Here she discovers that Noah had written her letters everyday and had been waiting for her all these years.

After years of seperation, Ally sees this photo of Noah in front of the restored house in the paper with blue shutters and a wrap around porch

My favourite part in the movie is towards the end when she has to decide on whether she wants to be with Noah or Lon (her fiance) but she must go and talk to Lon and Noah and Allie have an argument. My favourite thing said in the whole film is when Noah tells Allie "It's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, everyday. Will you do something for me please? Just picture us 30 years from now? 40 years from now? What does it look like? If it's with him, go. Go! I lost you once, I think I can do it again. If it's what I thought you really wanted". She tells him no matter what she does, somebody will get hurt. He replies "Would you stop thinking about what everyone else wants? Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, your parents want. What do YOU want? What do you WANT?"

Aaahhh, if you haven't seen the film this may not make sense but oh god that bit got me. He is so gorgeous in this film.

They filmed that last half of the film first (then had a break over Christmas) and then went back and filmed the first half of the film. Apparently Ryan Gosling (Noah) and Rachel McAdams (Allie) couldn't stand each other when filming began but love blossomed in real life and the two became a couple on real life *sigh* could it get any better.....?

The final scene of the film are just as gorgeous, but I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it yet.

The Notebook, just one of my favourite things.
