Room of the Week

How lovely is this living space in the home of Interior Designer and Blogger Erin Gates?

That coffee table is to die for.
I'm no stranger to hearing all about the "trunk as a coffee table" option
{I hear it almost daily}
but I never thought of it in a crisp, beautiful white.

That blue, custom made, velvet sofa is gorgeous and compliments the
two French Provincial chairs so beautifully.

You can see more of Erin's beautiful Boston home here on The Everygirl.

Icon - Wishbone

Also called the CH24 or Y chair, this piece is an icon in furniture design.

Designed by Hans Wegner in 1949, this piece is still today one of the most popular chairs produced.
It is classically beautiful, light and sculptural.
Craftsmanship is clearly the word to describe this piece with over 100 steps carried out by hand to produce.
And the seats are hand woven with paper cord that can last up to 50 years.

A touch of Tolix

The Tolix chair is a great option to use both inside and out. First designed in 1934 by Xavier Pauchard with the orinigal use for hospitals, factories, offices and public parks. Today you can buy vintage Tolix (if you can find) or there are some great replica's and they are making their way as a stylish statement into a number of different spaces.

I have considered this as my extra 2 dining chairs, but I'm actually thinking more for outside for me in a bright colour. Surprisingly not yellow but in another colour for the outdoors.

Guest Post : The Zhush

Hi, I'm Sue from The Zhush! I love so many different styles of chairs that it's tough for me to choose just one...but since Sarah asked if I would, I decided to narrow it down to the one chair that eludes me:

The Eames lounge and ottoman!

I've always loved the classic good looks of the Eames lounge and ottoman, however despite owning an original Eames white rocking chair and a charming Eames wooden stool, I can't seem to find a place for this awesome chair and ottoman in my own home. For now I guess I will just have to love it from afar...and especially when its all decked out in cool Missoni fabric or simple and soft in white!

I hope you enjoyed my shout out to my favorite chair!

Guest Post : Flourish Design + Style

The lovely Sarah at Flourish Design + Style

******************************************************

Thanks so much Sarah for having me at My First Little Place!

When Sarah asked me what my favorite type of chair was, I immediately thought settee. A settee is on my most coveted list, I am holding out to find the right one at the right price for my round dining table. I think it would be such an indulgence to sit, feet curled under, sipping a tea or coffee with a favorite magazine, or visiting with friends after dinner.

( or coloring with my munchkins :)

I love having cozy spots throughout the house, and this would finish my dining space perfectly! xx

Guest Post : Bright.Bazaar

I'm starting a new little series of guest posts. The best ting about blogging is to share information and ideas so I've asked some very talented bloggers to share with us what is their favourite chair design.

*******************************************

Hello! I'm Will from
Bright.Bazaar and it's a pleasure to be sharing my favourite chair design with you today.

My favourite chair studio is called James UK, which features a range of different styles and designs, from armchairs to sofas. When I celebrated my 21st birthday I was lucky enough to be given this rocker chair as a present and ever since then I've been a huge fan of James Harrison's work. The rocker chair is special to me because it's been a key piece of furniture through the various apartments I've lived in since graduating; it's timeless style and smooth lines are always welcoming. At the moment it's in the corner of my bedroom and I've dressed it up with a cashmere throw, which has made the a great spot for a cosy read of my favourite magazines.

Of James' current range, I'm drawn to the Alywn Compact Sofa because it's super stylish and sophisticated but at the same time the pop of colour in the buttons adds a splash of fun to the design. Plus, as I tend to live in small apartments it's pretty practical, too.

Be sure to check out all the designs in the James UK collection; it won't disappoint!

Thanks for having me over, Sarah.

Chair love

I've spotted this chair at a nice store on Fletcher St, Byron Bay (can't remember the name). I am very tempted to get one for my balcony and it's a bargain at $170.....mmm couple of more days to think about it.

And this would be great in my sister's house but we'd have to wait until my nephew is a little bit older - he would trash this!
