Fashion House - Elin Kling

Feeling all inspired with Elin Kling this week as she has landed in Australia for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia which started today.

For those who don't know who she is, Elin is a fashion blogger (probably the best), Design Director of the clothing brand Nowhere and Fashion Director of her own magazine STYLEBY.

Here's a sneak peak at her Stockholm apartment ...

Don't forget to check back on Wednesday when I'll share some of my favourite Elin fashionable looks.

Where I Want To Stay in ... Bali

When I think of travel to Bali, I think of the rustic Balinese villas to stay in.
Beautiful and resorty, yes but my type, no!

A friend of mine got back from Bali this week (being in Perth it is very easy to get 3 hour plane ride over to Bali YAY !!) and she stayed at the W Retreat and Spa - Seminyak and said it was great.

The interiors are modern with hits of colour.
Clean and fresh - the perfect environment for me to relax and enjoy.

Hope you're all having a great weekend

Apartment Found!

I have found a place - such a relief I can't even tell you.
I was starting to get quite worried about it just by looking and the price of these places.
But I found my place, it was the first one I applied for and got (all whilst I was in Singapore)!!

Here's a couple of sneak pics :

It's new and modern so I'll have to bring the character in
Nice clean sleek kitchen, yes I might start cooking
Bamboo floors
Open space that leads out onto a balcony
It's just on the edge of the CDB and a really nice area. Modern building, brand new really.
Strange thing for me is I have to catch a bus to work!!
This sounds like the norm for many people but for me for the last 10 years or so I have been fortunate to drive to work and it was usually a 10 minute drive to work so jumping on a bus will be an adjustment!!

I still can't move in until the middle of next month.
But that gives me a bit of time to get some inspiration of how I want my new apartment to look as it's a fairly blank canvas.
As I am finding this move to Perth as a new chapter in my life and lots of new beginnings, I think my home should also reflect this.

SoHo Loft Tour

I'm not sure if it's the fact I'm living in an actual "city" again after 8 years in regional Queensland but I am being drawn to the more city living, modern style ... maybe.

I found this SoHo loft on Remodelista, which you can check out in full here but these are some of my favourite spots in the loft...

*** Update on my living situation here in Perth for friends and family wanting to know ***
I have found a place in this very difficult market in East Perth.
But the viewing is on Wednesday ... whilst I am in Singapore !!!
Fortunately I have someone who can go and look for me and put in my application.
I am really hoping I get it as it is perfect!
Keep you posted.

M.I.A

Hello!
Sorry I have been missing in action but I have been in the process of moving myself to Perth.

I'm about to approach week 3
(even though last week I was in Melbourne so technically only 2 weeks!)
 and I am enjoying it.

Perth is lovely and I think the best way to describe it is there enough going on but not too much.
Lots of great little eating spots and clothing boutiques and the people I have met so far are all so friendly.
And the weather is beautiful at the moment, perfect actually.

But I am feeling a little challenged in finding a home!!! It's not about me being picky (much) but ...
a) there isn't many to choose from
b) it is SO EXPENSIVE!!! It is insane
The vacancy rate is - no wait it's not "vancant" - apparently it's 99.7% FULL!!!!!!
So that is a bit of a stress but I'm positive something perfect will come up soon.

But I'm not have tech problems like I did when I moved to Cairns
so I can at least keep in touch with my blogging, phew!

I'll be back soon

San Francisco Rental

I've been trawling through Apartment Therapy lately getting some inspiration on decorating rentals.
Even though I currently live in a rental which I have been happy with, in a week's time I will be
on the look out for a new apartment to rent in a new city.
By looking on the net for rentals available in Perth, I'm not sure I am going to be able to find
what I really want that is in my price range!

But this little apartment in Pacific Heights, San Fransisco has given me a bit of rental envy ...

Being a San Francisco apartment, it is full of beautiful details like the wainscoting and the adorable French doors.
I dream of having internal french doors, there's something I have always loved about them.

Fortunately before the tenant moved in, the apartment had been repainted and what a
 perfect shade they used.

Both  the bathroom and kitchen are basic, but at least they are white, fresh and clean.
Makes it all the easier to make your rental your home when your accessories work together with the fittings.

You can read more about it here if you like.

My week with Instagram ...

  1. My Sunday ritual, coffee in my favourite mug that a friend brought back from New York for me, while finally getting some time out for my bloggie catch up
  2. Came across this pink (yes pink) Balenciaga iPad case and put it immediately on my wishlist
  3. Went for a walk along the esplanade here in Cairns and it was beautiful, snapped a few shots while I was there
  4. Received a shout out for my blog The Orange Book from Louise over @ Table Tonic, thanks lovely
  5. My new addiction, Coconut Water. It has been sooooo hot here, this is a great way to keep hydrated as I struggle to drink flat water. Must drink with lots of ice though.
  6. Saw this film and feel compelled to share the message of Make Kony Famous 2012.
  7. Watched the new Louis Vuitton runway show for FW12. Such a contrast to the SS show. Great concept of a show that is deep with inspiration and heritage of travel and luggage. Can't wait to see these bags hit the store.
  8. Had my favourite regular Saturday lunch of pancakes at Dolce cafe here in Cairns
  9. Was told I was unpredictable, I kind of like that!!
  10.
Also three things I am really liking about instagram :
♥ It's making me live my life with more intention
♥ My mum has the chance to see what I've been up to through the week :)
♥ It's another great way to keep in touch with my friends who are also enjoying instagram

One thing I don't like about instagram :
> People asking, even begging others to follow them!
It's a freedom of choice isn't it, don't you follow who you like
and want to follow because you're interested in their pics ....
but maybe that's just me!

I want a teepee in my room ...

Well maybe not now but gosh when I was a kid, I would have loved this.
This will be a must if when I have children.

But I do have to say as gorgeous and fun as these teepee's are,
I have great memories of using just bedsheets and pillows to make a
tent between my sister and my beds.
That was just as good!

Celebrity Home - Ione Skye

Ok so this isn't a new reveal and she doesn't live there anymore,
but I still love actress Ione Skye's old house - mod style with a touch of rustic and all.

How cute is that little pup on the table

I kind of think this design of home would be great as a holiday house or something similar.
Great colours, textures and shapes.
