Guest Post : The Zhush

Hi, I'm Sue from The Zhush! I love so many different styles of chairs that it's tough for me to choose just one...but since Sarah asked if I would, I decided to narrow it down to the one chair that eludes me:

The Eames lounge and ottoman!

I've always loved the classic good looks of the Eames lounge and ottoman, however despite owning an original Eames white rocking chair and a charming Eames wooden stool, I can't seem to find a place for this awesome chair and ottoman in my own home. For now I guess I will just have to love it from afar...and especially when its all decked out in cool Missoni fabric or simple and soft in white!

I hope you enjoyed my shout out to my favorite chair!

My First Little Place style formula

Nicole at Sketch42 is posting about her style formula (which I love) and has put it out there for others to share their style formula. So I'm going to share with you what my style formula is!

I like a simple casual mix - white canvas with dark wood and good pieces of furniture - dining table and lights love! Not fussy and not over styled...

It has to have a little bit of feminine glam

But still keeping a place that has a masculine touch, comfortable for the boy - love a Hollywood Hills look

An understated mid century modern touch

Going a little more modern with a graphic element

I could go on forever but this is what stands out as my style formula!

To tree or not to tree?

I have decided not to put up a Christmas tree this year.
Since I first moved out of home some 12 years ago I have only ever put up one tree! Surprising for my love of design and decorating but I work in the retail industry which we know is the craziest, busiest, most ridiculous time of the year that I don't have much time to celebrate christmas and therefore a tree for me or others to enjoy.

Belinda's beautiful Christmas at The Happy Home

I will however put up some decorations, just trying to get some inspiration
(even though we are only 3 weeks away!)

Hope you are all having fun getting ready for Christmas x

Guest Post : Flourish Design + Style

The lovely Sarah at Flourish Design + Style

******************************************************

Thanks so much Sarah for having me at My First Little Place!

When Sarah asked me what my favorite type of chair was, I immediately thought settee. A settee is on my most coveted list, I am holding out to find the right one at the right price for my round dining table. I think it would be such an indulgence to sit, feet curled under, sipping a tea or coffee with a favorite magazine, or visiting with friends after dinner.

( or coloring with my munchkins :)

I love having cozy spots throughout the house, and this would finish my dining space perfectly! xx

Guest Post : Bright.Bazaar

I'm starting a new little series of guest posts. The best ting about blogging is to share information and ideas so I've asked some very talented bloggers to share with us what is their favourite chair design.

*******************************************

Hello! I'm Will from
Bright.Bazaar and it's a pleasure to be sharing my favourite chair design with you today.

My favourite chair studio is called James UK, which features a range of different styles and designs, from armchairs to sofas. When I celebrated my 21st birthday I was lucky enough to be given this rocker chair as a present and ever since then I've been a huge fan of James Harrison's work. The rocker chair is special to me because it's been a key piece of furniture through the various apartments I've lived in since graduating; it's timeless style and smooth lines are always welcoming. At the moment it's in the corner of my bedroom and I've dressed it up with a cashmere throw, which has made the a great spot for a cosy read of my favourite magazines.

Of James' current range, I'm drawn to the Alywn Compact Sofa because it's super stylish and sophisticated but at the same time the pop of colour in the buttons adds a splash of fun to the design. Plus, as I tend to live in small apartments it's pretty practical, too.

Be sure to check out all the designs in the James UK collection; it won't disappoint!

Thanks for having me over, Sarah.

Cosy Nook

What a great, very causal little nook in this kitchen.
Great for catching up with friends over a coffee or hanging our with the kids.
Also imagine it on an overcast rainy day, snuggled up with a book (or your laptop) and a glass of wine.

Beautiful DIY

I'm lacking inspiration lately in all areas, in particular for blogging :(

But I can't help thinking of this little beauty that Nicole (Sketch 42) did for her little Cookie's room. I love it, she's so creative taking something that is inexpensive and making it look like a million bucks.

From this Ikea Lack table

to this

How adorable does it look along with the ghost chair and the stripe rug

Nicole is an incedible artist with so much creativity, jealous... beautiful work.
